What can I say about Calvin? My experience working with Calvin was excellent from beginning to end. As a first time homebuyer, I was skeptical about using the services of an exclusive buyer’s agent because I felt like I knew what I wanted in a new home and could figure out the details myself. I challenged Calvin, asking, “Why should I go with you and your services?” “Because I’m the best and I know the home buying process,” he said. Then he proceeded to show me the meaning of these words. We looked at no less than 70 properties in the hot summer months, with Calvin keeping track of every property we looked at and my many comments and likes/dislikes. He intuitively honed in on my preferences and pulled new properties for me to look at each week. He handled every step of the process, anticipating every pitfall of the contract, offer, and closing processes, and he was always available to me to answer my questions and make sure I didn’t miss any deadlines. I certainly underestimated the amount of tedium involved in the home buying process and was quickly pleased with my decision to go with Calvin’s services. He doggedly negotiated contract terms on my behalf delivering an incredible deal on my new home, extracting many concessions from the seller. Even today, 3 months after closing, Calvin is as responsive as ever to my questions. I’m grateful, as I know I am not the easiest guy to work with. ...Calvin Kim is one such agent. He is a superb agent who takes his client’s best interest at heart. When we started looking for a house we didn’t think it was going to be an ardous process. After all, I had done my research and prepared well to make sure we knew what we were going to go through. Boy, was I wrong! Our home buying process started with going under contract for a new construction home. The builder offered us great deals: appliances stainless steel upgrades, free washer and dryer, no closing costs, etc. We loved the floor plan and were excited to close. Right from the get go, Calvin strongly advised us to get an independent home inpector before closing even though it was a new construction. I was so glad I listened to him. The house turned out to be a disaster! Bad foundation, poorly constructed roof, clogged kitchen sink, etc! The builder insisted nothing was wrong with the foundation but we wanted nothing to do with the house. We were ready to walk away even if it meant losing our earnest money and other upgrades we already paid for. Calvin fought for us to get a full refund. When we got our money, the title company deducted $150 for HOA fee even though we didn’t close. At this point, I was ready to just let it go but Calvin called the builder to demand the $150 back which they promptly did. Then, we found a second house. There was an intense bidding war but we won. After inspection, we found out the house also had structural issues so we decided to back out before the end of the option period. I felt bad about backing out but my husband and I had a lot of reservations so we decided it was the right thing for us to do. Throughout all this, Calvin was very patient. He reassured me that he would never want us to close on a house if we felt that it wasn’t for us. He wanted to find the perfect house us and our family. The third house we found was the charm. There was also an intense bidding war (Houston market is so hot right now!) and again Calvin was able to win the contract for us...
I was very grateful to have Calvin's expertise, support, and hard work on my side. I had a very difficult search with a tight timeline as I was coming from out of state and Calvin was awesome every step of the way. Whether it's your first purchase or you're an investor, you will find Calvin has your best interest at heart -- I felt he was genuinely looking out for me, which I very much appreciated.
